Kasamore Names Fynn Hlaing Director of Product Management

Posted by Kasamore on December 25, 2009

This month, Kasamore embraced a new addition to its personnel – Fynn Hlaing, Director of Product Management. This news comes as the international calling card company equips itself for an aggressive year of commerce in 2010. In this crucial and strategic role, Hlaing will oversee all components of the management process, coalescing Kasamore’s product strategy and execution as well as all feedback from sales, marketing, customers and development.

Hlaing will create a strategic vision to assist in providing exceptional products as well as lead Kasamore’s internal process to define product strategy, roadmaps and priorities. Her interactions with sales, marketing and support will ensure that Kasamore products are accurately aligned with the company’s business model. The goal of Hlaing’s role sums up into a simple objective: The ultimate growth of Kasamore into a large and profitable company.

Hlaing joins Kasamore with extensive experience in the industry of management. As Senior Engineering Product Manager at Netgear, Inc., she conducts product and product performance reviews to manufactures in China and Taiwan prior to the release of the products. This demand of visits to manufactory sites overseas has provided her with both international experience and a unique perspective of management. She has developed various projects with Quality Assurance (QA) teams throughout her career to determine the suitability of products for their intended purpose. At Good Technology, Hlaing served as Senior QA Server Engineer and supervised up to three QA engineers to monitor and control tests for data centers; here she worked with teams from India, UK and North America.  Prior to working at Good Technology, Hlaing was a QA Lead Engineer at Syndeo Corporation, where she performed similar functions as Good Technology and Netgear, Inc., managing a group of four QA engineers.

Kasamore is confident that this level of experience brought into the company could soon drive it into a full-sized, lucrative business.

Kasamore Customer Testimonial

Posted by angelinestuma on October 5, 2009

While building her house in Ghana Eugenia Anum got frustrated whenever she had to call home to check on the progress of the house.  The phone card company that she was using kept deducting her minutes as soon as she hung up.   Then heard of Kasamore through an agent at church, and felt as ease while using the card.  When ever her children in Ghana flashed her she could call them right back with no worries. She likes Kasamore because of the no fees of any kind and the pinless dialing.

What is Voice Over Internet Protocol?

Posted by Kasamore on August 6, 2009

Here at Kasamore we believe in educating our users, and we’d like to share with you some information about the innovative technology that we use. Kasamore uses Voice Over Internet Protocol technology (VoIP), which is a technology that allows you to make voice calls over IP networks such as the Internet instead of a traditional phone line.  Some VoIP services only work over your computer, but Kasamore’s services also works on a traditional phone line, and mobile phone.

So how exactly does Kasamore use VoIP to process a phone call? First, the caller dials in, using an access number.  The VoIP gateway, assisted by the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) server, then prompts the caller to enter his/her account ID (PIN) or no pin if its pinless dialing. Once the previous step is completed, the system authenticates the caller, prompts the VoIP gateway to announce the account balance to him/her, and signals him/her to dial the destination number. After the destination number has been entered, the system calculates the maximum call duration, and plays it back to the caller via the gateway’s IVR. Once the call is completed, it is charged to the caller’s account balance. The calling card user may log in to the account self-provisioning interface at any time to access call history (CDRs), payment information (credit card info), language options, and many other features.

The core elements of a VoIP-based calling card solution include:

  • A VoIP Gateway, this functions as an interface for the originated call from the PSTN (caller’s phone) to the IP network (Internet), and includes an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) server that provides voice prompts describing the account balance and minutes available for the call.
  • Billing software, a real-time billing and customer care platform that keeps track of calls and corresponding charges; redundant system architecture (dual database) is already incorporated in the basic version.
  • Call Control software, a call control software package based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and providing a full array of call routing capabilities as well as a solution to the NAT traversal problem (only required by clients using PC phone software and/or when sending calls to a SIP carrier).

So there you have it, now you know how a phone call is processed at Kasamore.
